The Mais Defensoria project aims to increase access to justice by improving the transparency of public defenders’ offices and identifying data gaps in their internal governance. The collection, management and transparency of the work of Brazilian public defenders’ offices is crucial to strengthening these essential bodies for access to justice, especially for the most marginalized citizens.
The work of Mais Defensoria has two fronts:
1. Action: Evaluate the transparency given on the electronic portals of the public defenders’ offices about the criteria for serving citizens.
Objective: to identify improvements to guarantee easy access for the population to the justice system and transparency practices.
2. Action: development of materials and tools aimed at improving transparency and information management for adoption by all public defender offices (PDs) in the country.
Objective: to promote the creation of inputs on citizen service so that public defenders’ offices can measure, analyze and strategically modify their work.
