Minas de Dados consisted of a one-month immersion program offered to five participants to train them in the use of open data on issues of race and gender, technologies and civic participation, with the aim of promoting the presence of more black women in decision-making and transparency spaces in public power.

The project, carried out in partnership with data_labe and Preta Lab, had four modules: open data and narrative construction; introduction to programming and data visualization; racial issues, transparency and civic participation; mentoring of individual projects. The meetings included mentoring and activities with black women experts, such as scientist Ana Carolina da Hora, and facilitators Vitória Lourenço and Marcelle Decothé, as well as a space for participants to exchange experiences.

At the end of Minas de Dados, the participants presented a final product, from which Mulheres Negras Decidem was born. The movement produces data on politics through the lens of gender, race and class in order to qualify the agenda led by black women and strengthen democracy. It is currently a capillary network that reaches 19 states, 300 articulators and whose agenda is built collectively.
