Access to information Combating corruption Reports

This document presents the proposals drawn up by Transparência Brasil to improve the Access to Information Law (LAI), at the request of the National Secretariat for Access to Information of the Comptroller General of the Union during a meeting of WG 4 of the Council for Transparency, Integrity and the Fight against Corruption (CTICC).

TB’s main suggestions concern changes that make it impossible to use the argument of personal data protection to deny information of public interest, the inclusion of new items in the list of information that must be disclosed by public bodies, and more incisive provisions on accountability for non-compliance with the legislation.
